Rudge Rew is a177 acre livestock and arable farm set amid beautiful rolling countryside one mile from the picturesque village of Morchard Bishop and 8 miles North of the mid Devon town of Crediton. It is a family farm run by my son Matthew. The river Dalch borders the land on one side where brown trout can be caught. A wide variety of wild animals, birds and wild flowers can be seen on the farm including roe deer, badgers, foxes, rabbits (which have also made themselves at home in the cottage garden), buzzards, wild ducks, primroses, bluebells and daffodils plus many more.

There is a lovely panoramic view from the top of the field close to the cottage and Dartmoor can be seen in the distance.

Rudge Rew Cottage, being a typical country cottage is semi detached, joining the owner's barn conversion. It is a spacious comfortable property with four bedrooms sleeping up to seven people and has a enclosed garden with lawn so is suitable for children. It is a lovely place to come and unwind and relax in our informal and friendly atmosphere

Morchard Bishop is situated in the heart of Devon midway between the two great moors of Dartmoor and Exmoor. The village has the longest row of thatched terraced cottages in Devon and the views to Dartmoor from hill top position of the 15th century parish church are spectacular. There are many public footpaths around the village, with one peaceful green lane close to the farm and the famous Two Moors way passes through the village.

Morchard Bishop village has a Post Office/village store, a local inn that provides an excellent meal, bowling green, tennis court, children's play area and a working forge. Fishing, horse riding, golf, cycling and swimming are also available close by with information being available in the cottages.

A warm welcome awaits you with fresh flowers and refreshments provided so there is no need to unpack before a having a cup of tea.

Local information and leaflets have been left in the cottage to help you enjoy your holiday and I have a supply of maps of Devon for your use. These include laminated maps of many of the walks in Morchard Bishop parish together with a map of all the footpaths in the parish.

If you need any other information my family and I will help you all we can.

A warm welcome awaits you in Devonshire's heartland

Visitors comments

Lovely! Cottage spacious and very very clean. Marvellous watching the house martins or just hearing them and the sparrows and sometimes the calves. Real British country life.

Lovely cottage, very well equipped, great games room and garden. The children had a great time feeding the calves. Will be back. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Just a note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Rudge Rew Cottage. The cottage was lovely, really spacious and warm. Perfect! (Christmas visitors)
